Love Q #4 - To Have Loved And Lost

This week Love Q created by the author of Short Sweet Love Poem are as follows:

Is it really better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?

My answer:

Any mistakes and failure in life are a stepping stone for us to become a better being. In terms of love, if we haven’t fail and lost it, it means we haven’t gain the learning curve that we could reach only through loosing something very dear to us. For instance, a person who is very domineering might not know that his/her forceful attitude has cost their love ones or people around them some inconsiderable amount of restriction on the right to have personal freedom which in turn leads to arguments, heartbreak and suffocates the relationship. They might never learn or have the will to change to be more considerate, to be a better person if they have not lost the love which they once were too complacent with it. Sometimes it takes a lot of failures for us to realize our own mistakes. And sometimes, it takes a lot of heartbreaks until we succeed in love which after that, we need to learn how to maintain that love. So, my answer is yes, I really think it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

I like your answer too, it amazes me that some people learn from relationships and others seemed destined to repeat things over and over with a 'It's not me its them attitude....

It's true, Amidrin, that we should learn and grow through mistakes. Some people who lack EQ could never take a sour relationship and that's how we see cases of suicide, mental disorder, etc.

What is life without love? Interesting answer you have got. Naturally, we all need to learn but sometimes, the hurt of one relationship also makes us hesitant to start another. Well, that's love, I guess. :)

abbey: Yeah, those kind of people never learn from their mistakes. Too prideful to learn.

jo-n: That's true. And we wonder why they could not accept the truth.

tot's mom: Yes, the hurt might be too hard to for us to bear. But we also got to remind ourselves that God will not put you through what you could not handle. We just need to discover a way to overcome the lost and be optimistic.

martini: Yes, indeed. Else we never know what else needs improvements.
