I generally like working at my current company which I have been faithful since March 2003 (minus one year that I left). I don't have much complaints about my work, just generally unsatisfied with the monthly salary, and the occasional dull & childish company events that participation being made compulsory.
Just not too long ago, I started blogging seriously. I found many benefits of having a blog now. Besides having interest in putting my thoughts in words, I can earn some money through blogging too (that's because working here makes me poor). I can choose to work somewhere else of course, but I rather stay because I like my work scope and office location I guess. There is not many big company with the same type of industries like my company in Malaysia. Hence, I am stuck here for now.....
Lately, I have found the joy of spending my free time on Blogger during working hours. I know it wasn't exactly the correct working etiquette but who would actually commit his working time 100% on full concentration on work and work alone? I am pretty sure at least 99.9% of workers will procrastinate their working time in reading junk mails and doing other things unrelated to work during the 8 official working hours. Even if it is not being done everyday, it would be at least one-two time a week. I am greatly distress that my company IT department has recently blocked the Blogger website. I can still read post though. What is the use when you cannot login at all? Sigh..... what a bad omen. First, it was Friendster and YouTube, then now Blogger??? At first, Hotmail was also baned but it was lifted later. MSN Messenger is also baned even until now but I have permission to use because of work.
What is this culture they are trying to instill here? Treating us like children by restricting our freedom? We seldom see this kind of thing happening in western countries. What should be most important is we as employee able to deliver what is require of us to do in our work, nothing else matter isn't it? As long as we do not breach company policies or doing anything illegal that tarnish company's image, so why bother with those childish restrictions? I thought the world now has become more civilized and working in a global company will have a difference. Seems that I was wrong all these while.....

dear dear..don't complain. It's not you who's having this predicament. Big companies usually banned IMs and certain sites.
I'm used to it now. I find it helpful in banning IMs, as it distracts me from work, and if you missed blogging, you can always send your blog entried to your blogger account and it gets publish automatically without requiring you to login at all!
Yeah, good point you have there on using IM while working. But since I've changed work team, dealing with UK bosses and colleague gave me the privilage to legally use IM hehehe... I am mainly very against them banning those unharmful site.
Oh! How to send blog entries without logging in? Please, please share it with me in my personal e-mail ya? Please?????
IM is a necessity these days...very convenient to discuss source codes thru IM ahahaha...
My company blocked blogger once but they opened it up later because our CEO blogs too. Ha ha...did you try logging in through gmail instead of going to your blog url and log in from there? Previously, I did that and still could post. Only thing was I could not view my blog. The total opposite of your situation.
stubborn-daydreamer: Yes, IM is very convinient.
IMMomsDaughter, thank you for suggesting that. But it doesn't work in my company's IE browser. Lucky you - your CEO blogs too!
Well, I have found another way of able to post in blogger without logging in. Thanks to firethorn for giving me the tips... hehehe...
